Unplug, Thrive, Inspire: Navigating a Race Year, Authentic Living and Everyday Triumphs

As we stand at the threshold of a brand-new race calendar, there's an undeniable sense of excitement and opportunity, not only for the events I've already signed up for, but for those which have yet to even register on my personal radar.

The next 10 months are a blank canvas stretched out before us all, ready to be filled with the potential growth, meaningful experiences and personal records that can make it a true master-piece year.

So, with March ramping up and the weather making signs of breaking, for the better, it's time to evaluate goals, dream big, and embrace the possibilities that lie ahead.

In an effort to pursue this very mindset I've made a commitment to myself. In the age of constant connectivity and social media, which has become an integral part of our daily lives, it's becoming increasingly important to switch off. With the many benefits that social media can bring there are just as many, if not more drawbacks, none more-so than the negative impacts on mental wellbeing.

Recognizing the need for balance you may have noticed that I'm taking intentional steps to reduce my time spent scrolling through endless feeds. This certainly doesn't mean I will be neglecting my responsibilities to the podcast, nor to those I've committed to showing my support to through my very own profile, it's more a case that I'm disconnecting just a little bit from the virtual world to allow for a reconnection with the real world, fostering improved mental health, overall happiness and focus on my goals for the year.

As the hours once spent on social media dwindle, there's a newfound appreciation for the tangible moments that make life rich and fulfilling. With reduced stress about online minutiae, or the time it takes up overly producing content, whether posts, reels or otherwise, I'm finding more time to engage with my surroundings, strengthen relationships, and invest in hobbies that were shelved for several years. Embracing the simplicity of the everyday is a powerful act of self-care, allowing for a more profound sense of contentment.

The continuation of the podcast however has evolved into so much more than simply a platform for everyday runners to share their stories and inspire others. It showcases the achievements, struggles, and triumphs of real people, becoming a source of motivation and connection within the running community. Ordinary individuals doing extraordinary things serve as beacons of inspiration for listeners, reinforcing the idea that greatness is attainable for everyone.

But through-out any of the changes, re-evaluations, or realisations, I'm embracing the potential of the new race season. The year as a whole will continue as it has begun, embracing a delicate balance of introspection, intentional disconnection, and an unwavering commitment to living authentically.

By reducing the time spent on social media and fostering genuine connections with the world around me, and additionally with guests, I open myself up to a year of fulfilment, growth, and inspiration.

As we navigate the next 10 months, I’ll strive to make each day count, as I feel everyone should, while revelling in the joy of real-life experiences and the connections that I forge along the way.
